“They’ve been tagged as pirates, bikers of the lake, hippies, misfits, outcasts and even radicals” says the Goat Yard website. It’s a colony made up of the aforemtioned “people” within the Detroit city limits. There’s fire enginges on the property, re-purposed school busses, packs of wild goats, a floating car, remnants of an old brick factory and all kinds of sailboats. It’s the Goat Yard, home to the sailors and crew of the Detroit Sail Club. And as Stephen Hume, king of the castle puts it, “they say the difference between a fairy tale and a sea story is this: A fairy tale begins ‘once upon a time’ and a sea story begins, ‘this ain’t no bullshit.’” Watch this:
