DETROIT LIVES! and Fashion Fights Poverty (FFP) are pleased to announce a unique partnership that brings on a new level of possibility for each organization. With each group already utilizing multimedia design, fashion and textiles to promote socially driven action and messaging in the communities they serve, the partnership will allow information-sharing to initiate new methods of reinvention and sustainability.

As DL! has proven on many levels locally in Detroit, collaboration is key, and what better way to collaborate than expanding on the similar scope of work that both organizations have in pushing for the re-imagination of traditional social issues. Having experience in many of the same creative arenas, there is a wealth of valuable information sharing to occur that will lead to the roll-out of innovative projects and efforts locally and throughout the country. Stay tuned for more details and announcements as we begin our working relationship. Expect events, new projects and some use of FFP’s talent pool to do some creative stuff here in Detroit.

Organizationally, FFP’s mission is to raise awareness for initiatives that encourage and support creative, effective, and sustainable means of challenging global poverty and other socially driven causes. FFP provides a forum for dialogue and partnerships between development organizations, civic groups and the fashion community. They believe that the industries of fashion, textiles, and design offer unique and effective opportunities for designers, craftsmen and consumers alike to contribute to the alleviation of poverty through trade, skill building and community empowerment.
